The
Portal das Finanças account has contact details associated with it — an email address and a phone number.
Keeping your email address and phone number up to date is essential for secure and effective communication with the Tax and Customs Authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira – AT).
Why it matters:
- You can register and update your email and phone number at any time on the
Portal das Finanças.
- Confirming these contacts ensures secure communication and allows for password retrieval via SMS.
- Taxpayers who opt-in and confirm the contacts will receive regular updates by email and SMS about their tax obligations. These messages do not replace official notifications required by law.

Managing Communication consents (opt in / opt out)
To receive regular updates by email or SMS, you can activate the checkboxes shown under each contact detail.
By doing this, you give consent for AT to send to your confirmed contacts personalised and useful information, including reminders that help you comply with your tax obligations before the deadlines.
These messages are informative and do not replace official notifications required by law.
